Jenny Mc Grath - Accountant Business Advisor/ Brilliant Money Solutions For over sixteen years I have been working with people in the book industry giving business advice, including writers. As an accountant I help authors set up their books if they are self-published, work out the dreaded tax system and just give sound accounting advice.

I started meeting artists and creators on a volunatary basis giving advice for Arts Nexus. After meeting with several artists, writers etc I have a new appreciation and understanding of that world.
Being a writer is difficult as at the end of the day you not only write but you would like to make money. My job was been to help wrtiers find out if they are doing the background work before they start, getting quotes, documenting their sales correctly and actually knowing what the initial book cost should be!

It is all very complicated I know, but if you worry about writing and I worry about helping you to be informed before you begin on any costly venture then there is a better chance of making a profit and having some to self-promote.
