PAULIEN C BATS - ILLUSTRATOR /
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Paulien Bats is a dedicated illustrator, graphic designer and artist.
She was born in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. In the 80's she moved with her parents and sister to Australia, where she completed college and then studied Graphic Design and Illustrations at a local School of Art and Design.
In 1990 she moved back to the Netherlands, where she worked for several advertising agencies and design studios, creating books, magazines, catalogues, corporate images, brochures, advertisements, presentations, websites and much more. From 1991 to 1996 she studied Dutch language & literature and didactics & theory of education. |

She is now a qualified teacher of the Dutch Language.
In 2003 she decided to be a freelance illustrator and designer, to be able to explore several directions and interests in illustrating and photocollages.
Since her college days she has been working with Dr. June Perkins on illustrations for poetry and short stories.
In 2009 she illustrated a children's book for N. Gietema on the questions and uncertaincies surrounding the unexpected death of a child, and is hoping to publish this soon.
Paulien has exhibited several times in the past. |

Most of her free work is to be found in private collections and her commercial work in books, brochures, websites and other items for national and international companies.
Currently Paulien occasionally teaches drawing at private artist workshops, including commissioned illustrations for Dr. June Perkins and several other writers and commercial businesses.
