Diana Santamaria - Writer Born, raised and educated in Sydney, Australia, Diana spent many of her working years in education - from the high school classroom teaching English and Music, into ESL for adults and finally into educational management. From her childhood Diana has adored writing and has had some minor short pieces in print but has only now, in recent semi-retirement, found the time to dedicate herself more fully to this great passion.
Diana has done a large amount of international travelling over the years, but nothing is dearer to her heart than the place of her ancestral heritage - the Eolian Islands off the northern tip of Sicily. From many visits to these islands and having heard stories of its people that fascinated and charmed her time and time again, she has just completed her first novel Secrets Of The Pebbles - a story based on life on one of those islands inspired by genealogical records of her ancestors and her very deep love for the history and culture of her own people. Because of her great love of music, she has also written theme music for this text and hopes to make it available with the book. She is looking to self-publish in the immediate future so that she can share it with the thousands of people whose roots are from the same part of the world and our now dispersed world-wide, and those whose hearts are aligned closely with their own ancestral origins. Meanwhile, her young nephew Tom inspires her to write children's stories and poems which she also plans to get into print to share very soon. Additionally her part time tutoring in literacy to young people between 5 and 18 years of age, provides fertile ground for developing educational materials to stimulate young people's love of writing.
She says that her ideas seem to come to her as a gift from the heavens, and as such these ideas have been gifted to her to share with others. Her challenge is to get them into writing! She believes there is a writer in us all, that part of our souls that calls out to be heard. She is delighted to be in the company of so many other aspiring and published writers and very much looking forward to sharing many enriching hours with them all. |
