Dr Bonny Cassidy - Academic and author Bonny Cassidy is a poet and writer. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Sydney, on the poetry of Jennifer Maiden and Jennifer Rankin, and has published essays on Australian poetry and poetics.
Bonny lectures in Creative Writing Theory at the University of Wollongong, and tutors in Australian Literature. She has worked for The Red Room Company, including on its poetry education program, Papercuts, and is currently president of the International PEN Sydney Centre
Bonny was co-editor of The Salon Anthology: New Art & Writing (Sydney: non-generic, 2005) and in 2008 she undertook a Malcolm Robertson/Asialink Literature Fellowship in Japan. She is currently collaborating with composer Jeff Galea on a contemporary chamber opera, an adaptation of Eve Langley's classic Australian novel, The Pea-pickers. Her first chapbook of poems, Said To Be Standing (Sydney: Vagabond Press), was released in April this year, to be followed later in 2010 by a full-length collection, Certain Fathoms (Sydney: Puncher & Wattmann). |
