Jean Versace - Born in Queensland just after WWII, Jean grew up in the bush, her childhood adventures feeding her imagination, with the challenges and joys of adulthood tempering her writing. She lives now with husband, Grahame, halfway between Ravenshoe and Mt Garnet.
Jean obtained a BVA (Printmaking) at James Cook University, Townsville, in 1992 and an Assoc. Deg. in Arts (Writing) externally through Lismore's Southern Cross University in 2009. She has been published in a number of anthologies and small-press volumes, including Poetrix, and has won numerous short story and poetry competitions around Australia; has written several one-act plays (one performed) and 10-minute plays; has two self-published books of poetry to her credit: Hang-Ups and Hand-Me-Downs (2000); and Trident (in collaboration with Adrianne Smith and Vera Hepple) (Oct., 2010).
Jean has been a member of RADF (Herberton Shire), Qld Writers Centre and the Ravenshoe Writers Group where she has been involved in the production of a variety of publications including their 2009 anthology.
An avid reader with an unquenchable appetite for most genres, Jean's aspirations extend beyond a number of abortive beginnings of novels. She welcomes dialogue and inspiration through Book Creators Circle, where writers with a diversity of interests learn from and support each other. |
