Robyn Ressom - Writer / Artist / Therapist Robyn Ressom's versatility as an artist is reflected by her eclectic expertise in the disciplines of ceramics, sculpture, silk paintings, oil paintings and designer clothing. She has exhibited her art forms extensively both nationally and internationally. Robyn has also adapted her artistic talents and insights to develop therapeutic processes utilizing art therapy as a powerful healing medium.
Both as an Artist and Art Therapist, Robyn fits comfortably into the role of creator and/or facilitator of the creative process. She engages her knowledge of Transpersonal Psychotherapy with her clients towards a deeper, richer understanding of the creative process and the self.
The journey for Robyn began in her early twenties when she trained as a photographer and a a dark-room printer in Melbourne, Victoria. Photography led to an interest in fashion design and Robyn discovered her interest and skills in designing and manufacturing her own line of garments. |

Ceramics captured Robyn's interest in her late twenties and this fascination resulted in a large pottery studio in the Adelaide Hills. Robyn employed over a dozen craftsmen and women and produced both decorative and functional pieces for her two retail outlets in the historical town of Hahndorf, S.A.
Following 13 years of throwing thousands of pottery pieces, Robyn opted for the less strenuous albeit more challenging discipline of both silk and oil painting. She was one of the first Australian artists to transform the craft of working with silk to an art form. She has since widened her pallet to include oil paintings of portraitures and nude studies. |
In order to augment her natural interests in healing via the arts, Robyn returned to academic pursuits in 1994 to complete a Social Science degree - (University of South Australia) followed by a Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy. She continued her education training further in Addiction and Family of Origin Therapy.
Robyn has recently completed a Masters in Art Therapy - Melbourne Institute of Experiential and Creative Art Therapy and combines her eclectic interests and passions between therapy, art and writing. Robyn has travelled extensively and now lives with her partner in Cairns. She is currently working as a therapist, an artist and on a revised edition of her Masters Thesis as a book.
