From his law degree at QUT to working at James Cook University or on the Cairns Regional Council his role has always been to communicate through the verbal or written word. He has become a wordsmith with newsletters, letters to politicians and to the media. He has gained a high profile through the various interviews and articles done on him and the active life he leads in politics and in his community. Robert will tell you: "The written word can sometimes be our only defence. So many people try to misuse the words of others. We have a responsibility to use our words and those of others correctly. When I write I try to be as concise as possible and as respectful of others as I can be. I am fully aware of the importance of writing with care in getting the job done, whatever that might be
