Wow...what a year so far. I`ve been busy engrossed in the true story about a horrific child abuse case. The tears and words gush as I research the facts and if this story can save at least one child from suffering, then it`s all worth it. Like many others I am so opposed to this treatment. What I do enjoy discovering through this research are the old `sayings` `songs` and `poems` which have never been brought to light, perhaps my saving grace through all this sadness. Thanks for reading my short communique.

Hello Cherubs
I have hardly put pen to paper for over a month! I have been busy doing The Junk Wave business and having a ball.
I have been nominated for three national awards: Mumpreneur of the year, Telstra Business Women`s Award and the Pride of Australia medal.
The Cairns Sun has done a short piece on me and it will show this week or next.
Life is wonderful. I am 10kg lighter and feeling fantastic.
Love to you all, Megan Bayliss (Australia) |

Sitting in my son`s office in Brisbane using his p.c. as I have withdrawal symptoms if I can`t use a pc at least once a day.
Sorry to be missing the gathering at Rydges tomorrow and thinking of the supportive bond we contributors have with BCC. In recovery mode with ears, eyes and knees and now 28000 words into memoir and working all first drafted short stories and poems. Leaving Hank to his ebook work world whilst I galivant to a family wedding.
Can`t believe my baby son is nearly 50...much to share in this quality time together..blessings to all hzl

Hi Guys and Gals, somewhere in the last 12 months I`ve seen a piece about what NOT to do if your want your book etc. to fail. e.g. Don`t get it edited by a professional editor etc. I`ve lost my copy if, in fact, I saved it. Can anyone help please. I have an acquaintence in UK who is writing a book and thinks he knows what`s what! I`m trying to put him right.
Thanks, Chris Shaw (Australia) |

My thanks to Letizia and everyone at BCC for their thoughts and support during my brinkmanship with the scyther of souls! The body is recovering well and fierce shopping and castle tourism in UK has honed my little old frame and tested my pacemaker to full capacity. Now, some warm weather and a glass of something bubbly and the whole thing will become a bad dream but with a happy ending.
My `Nooky` book was printed by FC Productions and I received my first copy on the Thursday before Christmas. The marketing has been non-existent as there have been more pressing problems, but which I must address soon.
Thanks again, Guys an Gals, Chris Shaw (Australia) |

I have just sent the art work for my second book of my Triolgy to the printers. So pleased to have it on the way. It takes a lot of energy to stay focused and positive doesn`t it? But so worth while at the end.
I`m now working on an e book series for children with a friend.

I have undertaken the rather daunting task of identifying a POD publisher. After some online research, I am leaning toward Friesen Press which is located in Victoria, BC, Canada (Just across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from where I live in the US.) Has anyone heard any feedback about this company?

It is wonderful and a grand privilege to be welcomed to the BOOK CREATORS CIRCLE by M/S Letizia De Rosa. I am looking so forward to the BCC conferencings with others who have a passion for books and a passion for creating the written word. My tool of trade will know unleash upon the waiting blank page. Let the creative flow of ink explore the adventures as I scribe, scribble even to stretch my energies of my love to write. Oh how a spark has ignited my desire to write constantly.
I am 'a verb man' a man of action, thus, so as not to lose the direction, purpose and meaning to write, I want to listen and learn more from my new found colleagues.
My conclusion is a quote by Aristotle, and he said, "We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit."

SolacePOETRY is a Pozible project for a month - Pozible is an Australian crowdfunding platform for creative projects, & it`s a really neat way of pre-ordering a copy, supporting us, & getting a few extras. The book is SO beautiful (if I can say so:), Lyndon has blown me away with his graphic art collaboration, and the poetry is the best of my best, a signature selection. http://www.pozible.com/index.php/archive/index/5856/description/0/0

Hello All,
It`s always busy here at the Duffy Desk and this past month is no exception. It has been all about illustrating this month with two picture books on the go (yes, I know ... still). I have finally finished `Circus Cows` these illustrations are oil pastel - very bright and cheery, the illustrations for `The Bear Said Please` are watercolour so quite soft and clean looking (these are 1/2 done). Still trying to make up my mind to self publish again or not. Big decision.
Oh well back to the grind stone.
Cheers

ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS FOR WRITERS IS KEEPING FOCUS AND FEELING SUPPORTED - WE AIM TO WORK WITH YOU TO DO BOTH.
For those interested the Writers' Forum day is Tuesday. You can ring me for support or a chat or email requesting to be linked with another writer for a manuscript exchange. You can join in where ever you are in the world and write on this day raising collective consciousness to your writing. The Writers' Forum is like a collective mini retreat day when we become more aware of our special role as writers and know that somewhere in the world someone on BCC is writing too.
Tuesday Writers' Forum also includes the Creative Space at my place offering writers somewhere different to write and enjoy quiet time 'just' writing. Please confirm attendance with me, if attending the Creative Space in Cairns.
Be proud and be passionate about being a writer.

Writing consistently again and with a renewed lease of life. I have been working intensely on a fun collection of children`s poems. Will be showing my mentor some time this week and hopefully have something to show for it soon. I aim to have this collection done by the end of the year.
Is there anyone who likes writing for children and who would like to do a manuscript swap with me?

Almost over all ailments experienced with computer, email service and self.
Still nothing from Geon, out they go. I`ll find another to do what is wanted.
I won't be doing much writing as such. Most of it will be project information and research notes. Perhaps I`ll get to do magazine articles from time to time.
Best wishes to all.

BRISBANE AND SYDNEY CONFERENCING AND PEN AGM:
Professor Fraser acknowledged Book Creators Circle`s involvement with Sydney PEN and Dr Carole Ford`s Letter writing.
Thanks also to Sydney Ricoh Rooms and Francis Chuah for hosting the Sydney BCC conferencing and Lynne Dalrymple for hosting the Brisbane event. We are truly fortunate to have such collective energy on BCC of people who work from generosity of spirit and who genuinely want to see writers be given a `fair go`.

A new book is always something to celebrate. Solace POETRY. Poetry with a spiritual pulse. It`s been a long time since the last collection, and I`m really happy with Solace.
Putting the YouTube clip together was another creature entirely, but mostly pleasant, thanks to my (very patient) graphic designer Lyndon Sheehan. Worth a look to see what`s possible in different media to get our books out there - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dkLg-E-V50&feature=g-upl&context=G2f71d41AUAAAAAAAAAA

PEAKxPRESSion book distribution is up and away with its online catalogue just live (see www.peakxpression.com - OnLine Catalogue).
With the opportunity for me to conference with Book Creators members this week in Sydney on Thurs night and in Brisbane on Sat morning, I`ll be networking about PEAKxPRESSion`s commitment to independently publishing authors in Australia and New Zealand.
A dedicated push for books to get out on the road into the marketplace, PEAKxPRESSion offers a personal book distribution option, with on-the-road representation, online catalogue, & a single online ordering, invoicing & payment gateway, for a reasonable upfront fee & small commission. This works for both book creators & book buyers alike, addressing the challenges experienced by both sides of the distribution equation. Our website is worth a look - www.peakxpression.com - to be encouraged about the options available for the future of our printed books. I`m personally delighted to be a part of something that will make a difference on-the-ground for independently publishing authors both in Australia & New Zealand! It`s taken quite a bit of project management pulling it all together, and huge shout-outs to BCC`s Letizia for her support and business acumen. All the best for all things writing to you all, Pip Sheehan Lowther. |

Greetings to you one and all. I am still waiting for the proof copy of Kemu`s Journey to arrive from the printers. It was only going to be a few days some five to six weeks ago.
Haven't been doing much writing of late, mainly due to the fact that what I get written has very little resemblance to what I am trying to convey to readers. It will pas soon, hopefully.
Hope to have more significant news in the near future.
Cheers Kemu. |

It never ceases to amaze me how this concept has attracted some of the most incredible people, writers and book industry people. This morning I met, yet again, a blessed and inspirational soul who needed very little explanation about the BCC concept. She could see how Book Creators Circle would help her to get over the finish line and stated "it was a privilege to participate in something as special as BCC with so many exceptional lives.`
Thanks Jo Ettles for being one of the many contributors I have welcomed recently to BCC who inspire me to keep going.

The year is speeding up and hotting up in so many ways. The heavy recent rains allowed me to type up 6000 words of my memoir and also to complete first drafts of 30 poems for children. The latter began after researching and contacting 8 poets in FNQ writing for the young. This harvesting of poets and poems will lead to a tangible fruition as to date there is only one such poetry book written by a FNQ writer (in libraries here)and she is one of the 8 mentioned. Locating and making firm contact with these poets has been time consuming but is valuable research in FNQ. I think my own outpouring has been a glimpse of second childhood...parallel with the memoir writing. Also on poetry how satisfying to work with new writing chums at the Connect Magazine Expo linking spiritual sound with spiritual writing. Most uplifting.
I think BCC folk have learned of my third major project this month- organising a writing seminar and programme for my former writing mentor, friend and colleague Auckland Univesity tutor Joan Rosier Jones former director of New Zealand Society of Authors. These events endorsed by the ASA are for the end of May. Lucky for us that Joan has a special family birthday to attend in Port Douglas! There`s more I could write as this is my only blog type between writing commitments but will wait till next month.
Wonderful to have BCC colleagues welcome to all new ones ...you all sound so lively and involved ....

I`ve had a collection of poetry in the pipeline for a long time, and the graphic designer has just this week put images to it that totally light it up. It`s given me a whole new level of appreciation for creative collaboration - the wonder of it all: words on the page forming their own pattern of meaning, an antidote to existential angst.

HI Cheryl and all! Speaking of research, after 10 years of research on my ancestors and how they lived their lives on the tiny Italian island on which my father and 3 of my grandparents were born, I have found that the rewards continue to come to me almost daily with the hundreds of contact I`ve made since releasing my book and music "The Secrets of the Pebbles".
Promotions have been rewarding and a blessing in more ways than I could have ever imagined and I`ve made contact with people from around the world as most of my people are in one way or another related! It has been fascinating to dicover through genaeological records, exactly how we are related. A small population of 2000 in the early 1900`s on the island I write about has now grown to around 23,000 around the globe, and the contacts with so many of them has been beyond my wildest dreams! Ah...the rewards of writing!! Am now venturing into releasing another book later this year - this time for children and called "What Do Fairies Do?"....a far cry from my first book, but I`m looking forward to seeing where this one takes me! It is currently being illustrated...releasing one book definitely leads us down amazing paths of connection and re-connection! Lots of good wishes to all my fellow writers!

History....what a magnificent word...so much meaning with so many connections. I have the deepest respect for our Australian history, it consumes me.
I am an aspiring new author who does a great deal of historical research. I had the most invigorating experience over the last week when 2 ladies contacted me for information on their ancestors. I was able to send them A3 size photos and criminal records for 3 brothers incarcerated in St Helena Island Prison 1873. In 1903, the eldest brother was unable to cope and ended his life in the most appalling manner. After speaking to one of the ladies about the difficulties she had locating relevant information, I volunteered to try and find the inquest records for her. She was so grateful when I posted 10 pages about her great grandfather`s demise.
History is always at hand and it takes little effort to put a smile on someone`s face by helping them through research. If I can help any BCC members or their familes for historical information or you wish to view my website www.convictcouturier.com.au please don`t hesitate to contact me.
